Sterling silver finger purse or handbag assayed in Birmingham and made by F. D. Long c1916. This bag has seen a lot of usage with several dinks throughout and would have had a lining inside which is now missing. Full hallmark with makers initials on one side and lion passant & date letter hallmark to other side. There is also a lion passant on the ring. Drop length from ring is 195mm. c1916 sterling silver finger purse / handbag is the work of F. D. Long and has a hallmark for Birmingham 1916. It is in fair condition for its age but has some minor damage and lacks its original interior lining.
However, the little purse is beautiful and a rare survivor from the First World War years and as such will be a collector’s delight. To maintain the condition of the c1916 sterling silver finger purse/handbag, we suggest polishing it lightly with a soft cloth when required.
